Retail Experience

Ken is a specialist retail management accountant working with retailers in the management of inventory, gross profit margins and option range planning.

Specialist Expertise

As a qualified accountant, with over 35 years in retailing and manufacturing experience, Ken brings a unique skill to retailers by demonstrating how a disciplined common sense approach to range planning and buying planning will significantly lift sales, improve gross profit and cash flow. Ken consults to leading retail groups in merchandise financial planning, option range planning and cash flow budgeting. As a retail accountant Ken is able to show to buyers how their actions impact on the profitability of the retail business.

Major Assignments

Implemented national and international retail financial management training and range planning program for Westfield. Developed and trained in excess of 1800 retailers and senior centre management in Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia Westfield centres. This program was the forerunner of the ARA Seed program.

Trained all senior executives of Stockland, AMP, Lend Lease, Dexus and Jones Lang La Salle. The program is to provide centre management teams with a detailed understanding of how a retail profit and loss and cash flow is dependent on the product planning. This enables executives to communicate and improve relationships with retailers in their centres.

Selected to present retail financial management training program to 100 Fair Price supermarket managers in Singapore. Significant lift in knowledge on category management, space usage and building a product range for customers specific to their store.

Selected to train Customer Relationship Managers (CRM) from British American Tobacco to improve their understanding of retail financial planning and therefore provide superior service to their retail clients in the field while improving supply chain productivity- that is, category management, inventory control, space usage, sales and GP growth.
